We are excited to be recruiting for the Rebuild USVI – St. Thomas Educational Facilities Bundle 2 project, a transformative initiative modernizing five school campuses and one administration building across St. Thomas. Funded through FEMA and in partnership with the U.S. Virgin Islands Office of Disaster Recovery, this project will create resilient, future-ready educational spaces – from innovative classrooms to gyms designed as hurricane shelters – giving our team the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the community.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The General Superintendent will manage on-site construction, ensuring safety, quality, and timely project completion. This position is based in St. Thomas, USVI.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervision of the physical construction of the project in strict accordance with the contract documents
- Supervise all other superintendents working on different trades of the project such as MEP, Finishing, Façade, Utilities, etc
- Responsible for maintaining and enforcing safety requirements and housekeeping rules
- Monitor and enforce project construction schedule
- Control and manage project costs and general conditions
- Thorough understanding of code requirements
- Liaise between subcontractors, site engineering team, and senior management
- Train site teams, provide technical advice to crews
- Review and confirm Daily Logs and manpower reports
- Conduct subcontractor coordination meetings
- Thorough understanding of quality expectations on work performed and enforce this among entire team, including subcontractors
- Perform employee performance reviews, counseling, and training
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidate must have at least 15 years of experience working as a General Superintendent on building construction
- Strong experience in several disciplines including MEP, Structural, Façade, and Finishes
- Clear understanding of construction documents, subcontractor scopes, and project execution
- Proven leadership and site management skills to drive labor forces and subcontractors
- Excellent communication, management, and adaptability to dynamic project conditions
- Commitment to safety, environmental, and quality stands
- Knowledge of local codes and familiarity with E-Builder and Microsoft Office is a plus
