We are excited to be recruiting for the Rebuild USVI – St. Thomas Educational Facilities Bundle 2 project, a transformative initiative modernizing five school campuses and one administration building across St. Thomas. Funded through FEMA and in partnership with the U.S. Virgin Islands Office of Disaster Recovery, this project will create resilient, future-ready educational spaces – from innovative classrooms to gyms designed as hurricane shelters – giving our team the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the community.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Electrical Engineer’s main responsibility will be to follow the design development, including design verification and procurement of materials and equipment for the project. This position is based in St. Thomas, USVI.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Monitor design development
  • Review the Designer’s production, in particular the compliance with codes, standards, regulations, laws, etc.
  • Propose value engineering to reduce costs and/or planning
  • Lead functional reviews with all necessary parties
  • Lead Interface reviews with Civil (walls/floors/ceiling, penetrations, rises, etc.) and Mechanical
  • Manage design deliverables progress status and follow-up the design validation process
  • Obtain quantity take-off
  • Prepare consistent batch of tender documents for purchasing and review quotes received
  • Technical and financial analysis of quotations and negotiations with suppliers & manufacturers
  • Conduct the approvals of materials and equipment with consultant
  • Follow the manufacturing process and delivery of goods in due time

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience, working in design development (construction drawings) and review, as well as experience in construction activities
  • Expertise of Electrical and low voltage installations
  • Knowledge of British Standards is a plus
