The position is based at the AW Edwards head office in Sydney, a subsidiary of Bouygues Bâtiment International, and reports to the Senior Cost Controller within the Finance & Accounting team.
Your role
As an Assistant Cost Controller, you will contribute to the financial management of projects by supporting operational teams in monitoring and analysing costs.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Cost Management - Commitments
- Monitor and control committed project costs
- Manage Purchase Orders and ensure correct WBS allocation
- Review and validate invoices (with or without Purchase Orders)
- Ensure proper approval workflows are followed
- Monitor outstanding Purchase Orders and close them when necessary
- Contribute to monthly accruals and cost recognition processes
Cost Management - Subcontractors
- Verify correct allocation of subcontractor costs within systems (Edifice)
- Review and validate subcontractor claims and variations
- Ensure proper follow-up of subcontract final accounts in coordination with Contract Administrators
Cost Control - Financial Management
- Contribute to monthly financial reporting and forecasting activities
- Analyse cost variances, identify risks and opportunities
- Challenge forecasts with Project Managers and Contract Administrators
- Support budget reallocations and maintain the project WBS structure
- Participate in monthly financial review meetings with project teams
- Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and data reliability
Client Interface
- Support the preparation and follow-up of client claims
- Monitor payments and track contractual variations and their financial impact
Internal interfaces
- Work closely with Project Managers, Contract Administrators, Finance and Accounting teams
Your profile
- Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering or equivalent
- First experience in project cost control / finance (internship, apprenticeship or initial work experience)
- Strong Excel skills and interest in financial tools (SAP is a plus)
- Good understanding of project management principles (budgeting, forecasting, reporting)

Practical information
- VIE contract (12 months, renewable)
- Location: Sydney, Australia
- Housing allowance: 1 150€/month in addition to VIE allowance
