What You’ll Do

  • Lead the management and control of project costs from initial budgeting through to final accounts

  • Analyse tender documents, prepare detailed cost estimates, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors

  • Use innovative digital tools to optimise processes and improve project outcomes

  • Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring quality and compliance with contract requirements

  • Develop procurement strategies and conduct constructability reviews to streamline delivery

  • Manage variations, claims, and compensation events while controlling commercial risk

  • Deliver clear, insightful commercial reports to senior leadership and key stakeholders

  • Mentor and develop junior QS staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture

  • Play an active role in recruitment, retention, and professional development within the commercial function

 

What You Bring

  • Chartered status with RICS, ICES, CIOB, or equivalent professional recognition

  • Proven track record in managing commercial aspects of large-scale civil engineering projects

  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence across disciplines

  • Strong analytical mindset with a passion for using data to drive smart commercial decisions

  • Experience with earned value management, risk/opportunity management, and dispute resolution

  • Leadership skills that inspire, develop, and empower teams to achieve excellence

  • A strategic approach with the ability to see the big picture and navigate complex stakeholder environments
