Job Purpose and Scope:
• Responsible for overall performance of Commercial functions within the Business Unit
• Attend Business Unit Executive Committee Meetings (Excom)
• Contribute to the successful delivery of the Business Plan
Your skills portfolio must include:
• Extensive experience in similar size contractor in similar types of projects and contract forms
• Excellent team building and presentation skills
• Excellent risk identification and management skills
• MRICS or MCIOB
• In depth commercial experience
• Realistic outlook whilst always striving for the best possible financial & Commercial result
• Experience of managing and resolving adjudications with the Supply Chain, Consultants & Client
Accountabilities and key tasks (Summary of major elements):
• Provide knowledge & expertise in order to maximise profit & cash
• Provide knowledge & advise on Contractual matters, Risk & Dispute Management
• Recruitment, Development and Retention of Commercial staff
• Provide support and direction to the Commercial staff in matters of Contract, Procurement of Sub Contracts, Subcontractor Control, Client Account Management, Financial Forecasting
• Collaborate with Business Unit MD & Financial Control to produce monthly management accounts, quarterly reports and Strategic plans
• Collaborate with Financial Control to ensure projects compliance with key Bouygues processes and procedures including - Transfer, Objective, Point (TOPS)
• Ensure commercial staff receive appropriate career planning, development guidance, training and reward
• Identify individuals’ potential and ensure they are developed to the maximum potential for the benefit of the overall organisation
• Responsible for the effective commercial resource management and employee relations within the Business Unit including appropriate interventions, deployment and redeployment of staff & reinforcement of staff when required.
• Champion a ‘best practice’ and ‘continuous improvement’ approach, to maximise returns in terms of profit
• Work closely with Production/ Operations Directors to deliver margin on schemes, utilising expertise in procurement of Subcontracts, Contract Administration, Claim Management (upstream with Clients as well as the Supply chain)
• Take a lead role in ensuring rigorous subcontracts are put in place and executed
