About the Role
The Construction Manager – Buildings is responsible for leading and coordinating all building construction activities across assigned projects within the Antarctic Infrastructure Renewal Alliance (AIR Alliance) program. The role provides leadership throughout the planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.
The Construction Manager leads multidisciplinary delivery teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and key stakeholder interfaces to achieve project objectives in accordance with program schedules, budgets, contractual requirements, and quality standards. The role is accountable for construction performance, site coordination, risk management, logistics integration, and fostering a strong safety culture, while ensuring completed assets are successfully commissioned and transitioned into operational use.
The role also requires periodic deployment to Antarctica to oversee and monitor construction activities, verify that works are being delivered in accordance with project requirements, and provide onsite leadership and support to delivery teams. While deployed, the Construction Manager is responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships with station personnel, Australian Antarctic Division representatives, and other key stakeholders to ensure successful integration of construction activities within the station environment and support the achievement of broader operational objectives.
