About the role
The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Operations & Maintenance team in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental systems across the Company. This role works closely with operational teams to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, company policies, and industry best practice, while promoting a proactive and positive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE documentation, systems, and templates, including procedures, forms, inductions, and incident management workflows, in line with corporate HSE policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and support pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, safety communications, and training schedules.
- Identify HSE training needs and assist in the development and delivery of relevant training programs.
- Support quality management initiatives and contribute to quality system training where required.
- Participate in annual and routine safety audits to identify workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, unsafe work practices, and hazardous conditions, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Assist with incident reporting, including data entry, evidence collection, investigation support, and tracking corrective actions through to closure.
- Conduct and participate in site visits to support safety engagement, workplace observations, inspections, and implementation of system improvements.
- Maintain, monitor, and analyse records relating to workplace injuries, illnesses, hazards, incidents, and absenteeism to identify trends and areas of concern.
- Provide guidance and support to the Operations & Maintenance workforce on HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
- Support leaders and managers in driving continuous improvement initiatives and embedding a proactive health and safety culture across the team.
- Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, company systems, permits, and site safety requirements.
- Assist in the review and development of risk assessments, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documentation, and permit-to-work systems.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HSE systems, reporting processes, and operational safety performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or higher qualification in Work Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or equivalent.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a Health & Safety Coordinator or similar HSE role.
- Experience in solar, electrical utilities, industrial, construction, or Operations & Maintenance environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience supporting HSE systems, compliance programs, and operational safety initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems and practices.
- Sound understanding of WHS legislation, compliance obligations, and industry safety standards.
- Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and support the implementation of effective control measures
