About the Role 

The Health & Safety (H&S) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. The role supports the organisation in minimizing risk, preventing incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture across all operations.

 

Key Responsibilites 

  • Develop, implement, and regularly review health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems. 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, and safety audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
  • Lead the development and delivery of health and safety training, inductions, and awareness programs.
  • Monitor safety performance through data collection, analysis, and reporting of KPIs and trends.
  • Work closely with managers and department heads to embed health and safety practices into daily operations.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness plans, drills, and response procedures.
  • Manage contractor and supplier safety compliance where applicable.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement initiatives, communication, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, training, and compliance documentation.
  • Advise senior management on health and safety risks, legal obligations, and improvement opportunities.

 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably within a relevant industry.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing H&S management systems and compliance programs.
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and training programs.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent understanding of risk management and incident prevention techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
