About the Role
The Health & Safety (H&S) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. The role supports the organisation in minimizing risk, preventing incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture across all operations.
Key Responsibilites
- Develop, implement, and regularly review health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, and safety audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
- Lead the development and delivery of health and safety training, inductions, and awareness programs.
- Monitor safety performance through data collection, analysis, and reporting of KPIs and trends.
- Work closely with managers and department heads to embed health and safety practices into daily operations.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness plans, drills, and response procedures.
- Manage contractor and supplier safety compliance where applicable.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement initiatives, communication, and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, training, and compliance documentation.
- Advise senior management on health and safety risks, legal obligations, and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably within a relevant industry.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing H&S management systems and compliance programs.
- Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and training programs.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent understanding of risk management and incident prevention techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
