About the Role
The Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Electrician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, inspection, maintenance, fault finding, repair, and optimisation of electrical systems and infrastructure. The role ensures that all electrical assets remain reliable, compliant, and available to support operational requirements while minimising downtime. The O&M Electrician works collaboratively with site teams, subcontractors, and clients to deliver planned and reactive maintenance activities in accordance with Australian Standards, contractual requirements, and Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned, preventative, predictive, and reactive electrical maintenance activities.
- Inspect, test, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Respond promptly to electrical faults, breakdowns, and emergency call-outs.
- Complete routine inspections and condition assessments of electrical assets.
- Carry out testing, commissioning, and verification of electrical installations and equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with Australian Standards, electrical regulations, company procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Accurately complete maintenance reports, service records, inspection checklists, and work orders through the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Identify asset defects, maintenance trends, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Assist with shutdowns, planned outages, and commissioning activities.
- Maintain tools, testing equipment, and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Liaise with supervisors, contractors, and clients regarding maintenance activities and operational issues.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by following all WHS, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support after-hours maintenance and emergency response when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- Minimum 3 years in electrical industries
- Solar O&M or EPC experience highly desirable
- Background in power station operations/maintenance
- Knowledge of automation or industrial networking (advantage)
