The Procurement officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for the construction project. The role ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant purchasing to support project delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.

 

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Finding synergies and standardising needs where possible to source widely.
  • Preparing Tender invitations as per the Joint Venture process and launching tenders
  • Developing Tender analysis and negotiation strategy
  • Participating in technical and commercial interviews with short-listed vendors
  • Negotiating to obtain the best conditions and fit the budget.
  • Recommendation to the Production team and management
  • Preparing and reviewing contracts
  • Contract execution follow-up.
  • Helping to prepare KPIs and updating the database.
  • Organise local purchases for the project.
  • Establishes all the documents necessary to ensure efficient purchasing.
  • Ensure all purchases comply with company procurement policies, budgets, and relevant regulations.
  • Monitor purchase orders to ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Resolve issues related to shortages, incorrect deliveries, damaged goods, or invoice discrepancies.
  • Support supplier performance reviews and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with finance, warehouse, operations, and other internal stakeholders.

 

Skills and knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Ability to critique, recommend and implement initiatives that seek efficiencies either from a process or systems perspective
  • Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor-management skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, contract terms, and supplier evaluation methods.
  • Good analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement or ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant procurement laws, regulations, and ethical standards is an advantage.
