About the Role
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the Project Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure construction activities meet company standards, client requirements, applicable legislation and relevant Australian Standards. Working closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients, the Quality Engineer provides technical support on quality matters, monitors compliance, coordinates inspections, manages quality documentation and contributes to the delivery of projects that achieve the highest standards of quality, safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain the Project Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with company procedures and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Project Quality Management Plans.
- Prepare, review and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Coordinate inspections, witness points and testing activities.
- Ensure construction works comply with approved drawings, specifications, contracts and relevant Australian Standards.
- Review and verify subcontractor quality documentation and inspection records.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, registers and documentation.
- Raise, investigate and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure timely close-out of corrective actions.
- Conduct internal quality audits and support client and third-party audits.
- Monitor compliance with quality procedures, contractual obligations and legislative requirements.
- Identify quality risks and recommend opportunities for process improvement and defect prevention.
- Analyse quality performance data and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support project teams by providing guidance on quality requirements and best practices.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors regarding quality matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in a Quality Engineer or similar role within the construction, infrastructure or engineering industry.
- Experience implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems.
- Experience on major infrastructure or commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of quality management principles and continuous improvement practices.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
