About the Role

The Electrical Foreman leads and supervises electrical installation activities on utility-scale solar farm projects. This role is responsible for coordinating field crews, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the required quality and electrical code standards. The Electrical Foreman works closely with the Site Superintendent, Project Manager, engineers, subcontractors, and client representatives to deliver efficient and compliant solar PV installations.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Supervise and coordinate electricians, apprentices, and electrical subcontractors on site.
  • Plan daily electrical activities, allocate labour, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Oversee installation of solar PV systems, including DC cabling, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, switchgear, underground conduit, grounding, and monitoring systems.
  • Review drawings, specifications, work packs, and schedules to ensure correct execution of works.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable electrical codes, project specifications, permits, and safety requirements.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks, pre-start meetings, and site safety inspections.
  • Identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Monitor installation, quality and carry out inspections before testing and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, commissioning, and grid-connection teams to resolve construction interfaces.
  • Track labour productivity, progress against schedule, material usage, and outstanding work.
  • Report daily progress, issues, delays, and resource requirements to the Site Superintendent or Project Manager.
  • Support testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, punch-list completion, and project handover activities.
  • Mentor and develop team members, ensuring work is performed efficiently and professionally.

 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Must have Electrical License & trade qualification
  • Minimum 3–5 years of electrical construction experience, preferably including utility-scale solar, renewable energy, substations, or industrial projects.
  • Previous supervisory or foreman experience leading electrical crews.
  • Demonstrated experience with solar PV electrical systems, including DC and AC distribution equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and technical specifications.
  • Strong leadership, crew-management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Proven commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
