About the Role 

The Graduate Engineer is a developing engineering role within the Alliance, responsible for supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of multidisciplinary engineering activities across the Antarctic Infrastructure Renewal Program at Davis Station. Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, the role provides engineering support across construction planning, technical documentation, site engineering and engineering assurance activities, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of project outcomes while developing practical engineering capability.

Working closely with the Senior Project Engineer and the broader Alliance Project Team, the Graduate Engineer supports engineering activities across Design, Construction, Methods, Logistics and Commissioning. The role assists with coordinating engineering information, preparing technical documentation, supporting construction activities, and resolving routine engineering issues under guidance. Through exposure to a broad range of engineering disciplines and project interfaces, the role provides an opportunity to develop technical knowledge and practical experience within a complex, remote and multi-partner project environment.

Key Responsibilities 

• Engineering Support: Assist the Senior Project Engineer and broader engineering team with the planning, coordination and delivery of engineering activities across the project, ensuring work is completed in accordance with Alliance requirements.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including technical queries, requests for information (RFIs), inspection records, work packs, construction documentation and engineering registers.
• Engineering Coordination: Support the coordination of engineering information between Design, Construction, Methods, Logistics and Commissioning teams to assist construction readiness and project delivery.
• Construction Support: Provide engineering support to construction activities by assisting with site inspections, monitoring progress, verifying completed works and responding to routine technical queries under guidance.
• Drawing and Specification Review: Review engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation for completeness and identify discrepancies or issues for escalation to the Senior Project Engineer.
• Quality and Assurance Support: Participate in quality assurance activities, inspections and engineering verification processes to help ensure works comply with project requirements, standards and specifications.
• Interface Coordination: Assist with coordinating engineering interfaces between disciplines, subcontractors and project teams to support effective communication and minimise delivery conflicts.
• Risk and Issue Identification: Identify routine engineering risks, constructability issues and technical constraints, escalating matters requiring further assessment or engineering direction.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Develop positive working relationships with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and Alliance partners to support collaborative engineering outcomes.
• Continuous Improvement and Professional Development: Actively develop engineering knowledge and capability through coaching, mentoring and practical project experience while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the Alliance.
• Alignment with Alliance Objectives: Undertake responsibilities in accordance with Alliance values, safety expectations and project objectives, contributing positively to collaborative project outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline), or equivalent recognised qualification
• Current White Card (Construction Induction Training)
• Demonstrated experience supporting engineering activities within construction, infrastructure or a related industry.
• Understanding of engineering principles, construction methodologies and project delivery processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Exposure to construction support, project coordination or site engineering activities.
• Understanding of engineering quality assurance processes and inspection requirements.
• Ability to prepare clear and accurate technical documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
