Project

Sizewell C is at the heart of the UK’s clean energy revolution. This landmark nuclear power station in Suffolk will provide low-carbon electricity for millions of homes and play a vital role in achieving the UK’s net zero targets. Supported by EDF and the UK Government, Sizewell C is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver sustainable energy infrastructure at scale.

Within the VSL Sub-Alliance, we are responsible for a range of specialist ground engineering works, including deep soil mixing, plastic cut-off walls, embankments, and load transfer platforms — all of which form essential enabling works for the main power station.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Document Controller to oversee and manage project documentation for VSL’s delivery scope at Sizewell C. This role ensures that all documentation is accurately processed, tracked, distributed, and maintained in compliance with project standards and client requirements.

Working closely with the Information Manager, you will support the implementation and day-to-day operation of the project’s document management system (Asite), enabling efficient, accurate, and secure flow of information across internal teams, supply chain partners, and the client.

Main Responsibilities

Document Management

  • Register, track, file, and archive formal project documentation within the Client’s EDMS (Asite).

  • Allocate unique document numbers, maintain metadata, and ensure only the latest versions are in circulation.

  • Control obsolete documents and maintain full audit trails for compliance.

Review & Compliance

  • Coordinate document reviews, approvals, and quality checks before issue.

  • Monitor and manage project deviations such as RFIs, FCRs, and Non-Conformances through to closure.

  • Support the preparation of handover documentation and reports.

Collaboration & Support

  • Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and the Client to ensure smooth document flow.

  • Provide guidance and training on document control procedures and EDMS usage.

  • Maintain distribution matrices and ensure compliance with information management protocols.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Generate regular reports on documentation status and compliance.

  • Support audits by ensuring documentation is well organised and accessible.

  • Identify opportunities to improve document management processes and tools.

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

  • Previous experience in document control and information management on large, multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Proven track record in managing document workflows and compliance processes.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in document control systems, ideally Asite, and strong MS Office skills.

  • Knowledge of ISO 19650 and ISO 9001 document control standards desirable.

  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail.

Personal Attributes

  • Self-motivated, detail-focused, and capable of working independently.

  • Excellent communicator, confident in supporting and training stakeholders at all levels.

  • Collaborative team player, adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem-solving ability and proactive approach to ensuring compliance.

Why Work With Us?

  • Impactful Role: Support the successful delivery of documentation processes on one of the UK’s most significant energy projects.

  • Professional Growth: Opportunities to develop your career within document control, information management, and quality systems.
