The Civil Works Alliance
We are recruiting for a finance professional to play a pivotal role in the delivery of Sizewell C—an energy project unlike any other in the UK. As part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), you’ll join an expert team supporting the construction of a 3.2-gigawatt power station, which will provide clean, reliable electricity to 6 million homes for at least 60 years. This is a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of the UK’s low-carbon energy future.
In this role, you will take responsibility for all cash-related activities on the project, ensuring the smooth financial operation of a large-scale, multi-partner initiative. You’ll work alongside major names in the construction sector: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke, bringing your expertise to an alliance with a global reputation for excellence.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing and monitoring the CWA’s four bank accounts, handling bank transactions and internet banking administration
- Preparing and posting manual payments, bank reconciliations, and cash reports, ensuring accurate and timely reporting each week and month
- Developing weekly short-term and monthly long-term cash flow forecasts to help steer the project’s financial stability
- Overseeing the monthly closure operations, from accruals to balance sheet revaluations, and preparing reporting files for project partners
- Handling client and supplier operations, including posting invoices and maintaining up-to-date records in SAP
- Supporting ongoing improvement of accounting procedures and setting up new third parties in SAP
What we’re looking for:
- Proven skills in Excel (essential), with experience in SAP and at least 2 years within construction finance considered desirable
- Strong attention to detail, and the ability to implement effective financial controls and risk mitigation measures
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to act as a key liaison with banking partners
