The CWA (Civil Works Alliance) is offering the opportunity for a Waste Co-ordinator to join our team on the Sizewell C project—a landmark initiative that will power six million homes with clean, reliable energy for the next 60 years. As part of the CWA, you’ll be working on the construction of a 3.2-gigawatt power station, contributing to a sustainable future for the UK.
This is more than just a job. It’s a chance to shape best practice in environmental management on a project of national significance, within an alliance that draws together expertise from leading international firms.
In this pivotal role, you will:
- Support site teams with day-to-day environmental and waste activities, ensuring adherence to legislation and project requirements
- Coordinate all waste logistics—tracking, documentation, and liaising with contractors for compliant and efficient disposal, reuse, and recycling
- Contribute to preparing and updating Waste and Resource Management Plans and maintaining key environmental site documentation
- Promote waste minimisation and segregation on site, championing circular economy initiatives and driving resource efficiency
- Work closely with our logistics team to ensure the smooth movement and management of all waste streams
- Provide hands-on support and guidance to operational teams regarding environmental compliance, pollution prevention, and mitigation
- Play an active role in training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns for staff and subcontractors
- Participate in investigations, audits, and site inspections to support continuous improvement and compliance with KPIs
- Liaise effectively with subcontractors, internal teams, and stakeholders to embed environmental and waste procedures
- Support the Environmental and Sustainability team with robust reporting for both internal and external audiences
What we are looking for:
- Strong knowledge of waste management standards, legislation, and best practice, ideally from within construction
- Proven ability to coordinate waste movements and logistics, with hands-on experience in delivering site-based campaigns and training
- Understanding of the circular economy and the waste hierarchy
- IT literacy in MS Office and confident interpersonal and organisational skills
- Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel between sites
It would be advantageous if you also bring:
- Experience on major projects or managing complex waste streams
- A degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Sustainability or a related discipline
- Familiarity with waste permitting, EWC codes, and industry compliance
