As part of the VSL Sub-Alliance, our teams are delivering specialist ground engineering works including deep soil mixing, plastic cut-off walls, load transfer platforms, and embankments — all critical enabling works for the main nuclear power station.
Role Overview
We are seeking an IT Support Manager to lead the delivery of local and remote IT services for VSL’s operations at Sizewell C. This role is responsible for ensuring robust, efficient, and responsive IT support to project staff, while overseeing the setup, deployment, and maintenance of IT infrastructure across site offices. You will manage 2nd line support services, coordinate with external suppliers, and ensure all IT systems meet performance, compliance, and security requirements.
Main Responsibilities
IT Service Delivery

Provide and oversee 2nd line IT support to project teams, both locally and remotely.

Ensure incidents and service requests are resolved in line with agreed SLAs via phone, email, service desk system, and face-to-face.

Manage escalation of service incidents to internal teams or external suppliers, ensuring timely resolution.
System & Infrastructure Management

Install and configure server hardware, operating systems, and applications.

Build and deploy desktops, laptops, and tablets using Microsoft OSD and SCCM.

Manage deployment of IT infrastructure for new site offices, including installation, testing, and cataloguing of network assets.

Oversee installation and configuration of software packages across the project.
Governance & Asset Management

Ensure accurate and timely recording of all IT asset movements in the asset register.

Maintain IT documentation and procedures for knowledge sharing across support teams.

Monitor compliance with company IT standards, policies, and security requirements.
Team Leadership & Collaboration

Lead and mentor IT support staff, ensuring a proactive and customer-focused service.

Share technical knowledge and provide training where required.

Support project IT management in delivering IT-related projects and initiatives.

Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to ensure IT services meet operational needs.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
-
Proven experience in IT support management, preferably within large-scale infrastructure, construction, or industrial projects.

Background in service desk operations within a Microsoft environment is essential.

Strong experience with PC/Desktop support including Windows 7/10, Server 2008/2012, MS Office 2013, Office 365, Active Directory, and VPNs.

Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation v3, Microsoft Certified, BTEC Level 3 in IT or similar).
Technical Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft OSD and SCCM for device deployment.

Good understanding of IPv4 networking and associated equipment.

Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and incident management skills.
