Specialized in civil engineering and engineering structures, Bouygues Travaux Publics is one of the world leaders in the fields of land use planning and sustainable infrastructure construction. Bouygues Travaux Publics is committed to diversity and is open to all talents.
We’re recruiting a Lead Estimator to join the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) and play a pivotal role on one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes.
As part of the CWA, we are supporting the delivery of Sizewell C, a 3.2-gigawatt power station that will generate low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes. This nationally important project will provide reliable, clean energy for at least 60 years, and we’re looking for an experienced estimating leader who wants to contribute to something with lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, we will look to you to lead and develop a multi-level estimating team across the Marine & Tunnels scope, taking ownership of both cost planning and pricing. You’ll work closely with the Head of Estimating to ensure consistency with the client’s estimating approach and standards.
You’ll be responsible for producing robust, well-assured estimating documentation, reviewing drawings and specifications, and developing detailed cost build-ups for labour, plant, materials and subcontractors. You’ll interrogate design options and value solutions, clearly recording assumptions, risks and opportunities, and tracking change as the estimate matures.
Stakeholder engagement will be central to the role, working collaboratively with planning, procurement, project teams and the supply chain. You’ll also present, negotiate and justify estimates confidently and transparently with senior leaders and external partners, while mentoring and supporting the development of junior estimators.
Key Competencies
We’re seeking someone with a strong infrastructure main contractor background, ideally within civil engineering, who brings a commercial or operational mindset. You’ll be an effective communicator, comfortable in client-facing environments and able to lead discussions with clarity and confidence.
You’ll demonstrate humility and respect, valuing diverse perspectives and working as one integrated team. A positive, solutions-focused approach is essential, alongside the ability to challenge constructively and drive continuous improvement. You’ll operate with clarity, making timely decisions, simplifying complexity and promoting collaboration across the Alliance.
Experience with tools such as Candy and CostX, knowledge of AACE estimating principles and professional chartership are advantageous, but leadership capability, flexibility and commitment to shared success are what matter most.
