About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead and manage all commercial aspects of marine and tunnelling projects within the Sizewell C Programme. As a senior member of the commercial team, you will drive cost management from initial estimates through to final account, maximising value for money while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
This is a leadership role that includes managing and mentoring a team of commercial professionals, influencing key stakeholders, and ensuring rigorous governance and compliance. You will be a Chartered professional (RICS, ICES or CIOB) or working towards full membership, bringing a proven track record in delivering major civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities

Lead commercial management across marine and tunnelling works, including preparation and negotiation of contracts, claims, and variations

Oversee and analyse subcontractor activities, procurement strategies, and programme-related commercial issues

Manage the preparation and review of cost estimates, activity and resource schedules, and earned value management reporting

Provide leadership and development for a team of quantity surveyors and commercial staff, supporting professional growth and performance management

Ensure strict adherence to company governance, systems, and project controls (GMCEs, BMS, SZC processes)

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to resolve conflicts and deliver win-win outcomes

Maintain oversight of commercial risks and opportunities, advising senior project leadership accordingly
Your Experience & Skills

Chartered or working towards professional membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB

Degree in Quantity Surveying (BSc or MSc) or equivalent experience

Proven experience managing large commercial teams on complex civil engineering projects

Strong negotiation, leadership, and people management skills

Solid understanding of project governance, procurement strategies, and contract law

Skilled in risk and opportunity management, earned value reporting, and commercial dispute resolution

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
