Specialized in civil engineering and engineering structures, Bouygues Travaux Publics is one of the world leaders in the fields of land use planning and sustainable infrastructure construction. Bouygues Travaux Publics is committed to diversity and is open to all talents.

We are recruiting for a Tunnel Electrical Service Engineer to join us on the groundbreaking Sizewell C programme – one of the UK’s most important low-carbon energy infrastructure projects.

As part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), you'll be playing a key role in supporting the construction of Sizewell C, a 3.2-gigawatt power station that will generate clean, reliable electricity for around 6 million homes. It’s a critical investment in our energy future – and a career-defining opportunity for the right candidate.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on managing all electrical systems and services for TBM operations. Based between London, and Suffolk, you'll work closely with tunnelling and technical teams to ensure all TBM electrical systems – from power distribution and automation to auxiliary services – are designed, installed, and operated to the highest standards of safety and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee electrical system design and installation for TBM launch and tunnelling works

  • Calculate and manage electrical load requirements for TBMs, conveyors, grouting, ventilation, and other tunnel systems

  • Program, maintain, and optimise PLC systems to ensure real-time automation and control

  • Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative strategies

  • Ensure full compliance with UK safety codes and electrical regulations in a nuclear-regulated environment

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including mechanical and hydraulic engineers, to optimise TBM performance

  • Provide input into construction planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and contractor oversight

Skills & Experience You’ll Need:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering (essential)

  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, automation, and control systems

  • Strong knowledge of TBM electrical systems and tunnel power distribution (including HV/LV cabling, transformers, control panels, etc.)

  • Skilled in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex electrical faults

  • Familiar with CDM 2015 and safety-critical standards in infrastructure projects

  • Proficient in tools such as AutoCAD and control system design platforms

  • Comfortable managing interfaces with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal delivery teams

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, takes ownership of technical challenges, and wants to contribute to a project that truly matters — to both people and the planet.
