The Project
Terra Verde is a joint venture between Webuild, GS Engineering & Construction (E&C) Australia, and Bouygues Construction Australia. The joint venture combines experienced local personnel with global resources and expertise.
Terra Verde is delivering nearly 10 kilometres of parallel tunnels between Glen Waverley and Box Hill, including 39 cross passages and two station boxes at Glen Waverley and Burwood in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, as part of the Suburban Rail Loop Project.
About the Role
The Site Engineer (Electrical) is responsible for providing technical and engineering support to the successful delivery of electrical construction activities across the project. Reporting to the Project Engineer (Electrical), the role supports planning, coordination, compliance monitoring, cost control, risk management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day engineering support for electrical construction activities across the project.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor daily cost reporting and productivity tracking systems.
- Review construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Identify construction issues, develop corrective actions, and support their implementation.
- Assist in the development, communication, and monitoring of project risk management controls.
- Conduct and participate in safety, environmental, and quality inspections, audits, and assessments.
- Support the management of defects, non-conformances, corrective actions, and close-out activities.
- Monitor and report on project progress, performance metrics, and key deliverables.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Contribute to the preparation of engineering documentation, work packs, inspection and test plans, and technical reports.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the project.
- Apply knowledge of tunnel and underground construction practices to support safe and efficient project delivery.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with project stakeholders, clients, consultants, and construction teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification.
- Current White Card
- Demonstrated experience in electrical engineering within major infrastructure, civil construction, or tunnelling projects.
- Exposure to site-based engineering and construction environments.
- Experience monitoring project compliance, performance, safety, and quality outcomes.
- Experience working with subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Sound understanding of electrical engineering principles and construction methodologies.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
