About the Role

 

 

Responsible for the management and implementation of a section of works on a construction project to ensure time, cost, quality, safety and contractual targets are achieved. Responsible to develop and implement procedures to achieve quality, safety, timely production and compliance with budgets.

 
 
Key Responsabilities
 
 
  • Actively participate in prestart meetings and engage with subcontractors, workforce and supervisors, and ask about their needs and recommendations on improvements that can be made.
  • Review and understand AMS/GMRs in collaboration with Supervisors / Superintendents. Where required present AMS to subcontractors and workforce
  • Actively seek out involvement in the safety design reviews with relevant personnel
  • Coordinate and ensure that junior staff are clear on what is expected of them and provide regular feedback to ensure effective performance. Use relevant ASMs to provide formal or informal feedback.
  • Be proactive in reward and recognition, seeking out and referring nominations for reward and recognition program.
  • Engage the community team in the look-ahead program and ensure that timeframes and deliverables are in conjunction with community timelines.
  • Proactively engage with designers and review design packages as they are developed and prior to design being finalised. Assist with ongoing development of work methods, program and planning.
  • Participate in cost benefit analysis with Senior Engineers and cost planners to contribute to developing contingencies for budget loss (claw back etc.)
  • Actively maintain risk registers and use of information to inform planning and reporting
  • Undertake informal daily hazard inspections of the work area and remove, rectify, or report any hazards as required. Ask workforce what controls are working well and where improvements could be made.
  • Ensure compliance with subcontractor onboarding processes
  • Complete KPIs per the safety matrix. Lead and participate in scheduled site safety walks, and make enquiries of workers and supervisors about what they need and what can be improved
  • Lead the development of junior staff by identifying development needs of direct team members and involving them in activities that will enable their development.
  • Ensure environmental controls are reviewed and assessed on all inspections, in addition to ensuring coordination with subcontractors’ compliance with our Project’s HSEQ processes
  • Review design documents to achieve clarification and compliance with standards, specifications and codes and adequacy of design documents for construction
  • Ensure progressive quality compliance with the full quality inspection process in a timeline that does not see quality left to the last activity
  • In collaboration with Supervisors, lead development of a detailed programme for day-to-day activities, lookahead program and daily program changes, including resources required and material deliveries.
  • Taking ownership of the tasks you are directly involved in, including associated Saturday works if required
 

 

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Tunnel) 
  • Experience with construction methods or equipment on major projects such as tunnels and engineering structures, along with a talent for digital products and services.
  • Curious, thorough, and self-driven, with a keen ear for understanding your clients’ needs and pain points, always striving to find the best solutions.
  • A team player who feels comfortable working in an international and multi-cultural environment.
