We are excited to be recruiting for the Rebuild USVI – St. Thomas Educational Facilities Bundle 2 project, a transformative initiative modernizing five school campuses and one administration building across St. Thomas. Funded through FEMA and in partnership with the U.S. Virgin Islands Office of Disaster Recovery, this project will create resilient, future-ready educational spaces – from innovative classrooms to gyms designed as hurricane shelters – giving our team the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the community.
The Health & Safety Manager will lead and oversee al site safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards while promoting a proactive safety culture across construction projects. This position is based in St. Thomas, USVI.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee health and safety compliance across all construction areas and equipment, ensuring adherence to company H&S guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Provide guidance and support to project managers and field supervisors on safety matters and best practices
- Develop, implement, and deliver H&S training programs for new hires and existing personnel as needed
- Lead job site safety initiatives, acting as a resource and problem solver to maintain a safe working environment for all employees
- Supervise safety inspections, audits, and reporting; ensure proper documentation of incidents, inspections, and compliance activities
- Oversee drug and alcohol testing for new hires and manage the related badging process
- Ensure timely completion of state and company forms related to medical injuries and incidents
- Conduct and supervise incident investigations, implementing corrective actions and preventative measures
- Maintain and enforce adherence to the Company’s health and safety policies, procedures, and standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in health and safety management in construction environment
- OSHA 30-hour certification required
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Flexibility to work weekends as needed
- English mandatory
