Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Core Business Unit, based at our Head Office at Becket House in London. The role will involve overseeing and managing all commercial and contractual aspects of projects within the division. You will be responsible for cost planning, contract administration, subcontractor management, and team supervision to ensure the effective financial delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support on all QS and commercial matters relating to projects within the Core Business Unit.

  • Prepare cost estimates and work with the cost controller to monitor budgets and achieve objectives.

  • Lead on procurement and tendering activities.

  • Manage contract administration including variations, claims, and final accounts.

  • Prepare narrative and supporting documents for claims submission.

  • Secure full and timely entitlement to payment through applications and final accounts.

  • Provide guidance to project teams on contractual matters (scope, responsibilities, durations).

  • Supervise and manage taking-off from drawings and pricing for cost estimates and tender documents.

  • Prepare sub-letting documents, tender analysis, and participate in tender interviews; make recommendations for subcontract awards.

  • Lead and coach junior staff, reviewing and checking their work.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

  • Attend meetings and site inspections as required.

  • Ensure compliance with VSL QA requirements and best practice.

  • Prepare income forecasts, subcontractor liabilities forecasts, cash flow forecasts, and monthly valuations for top management.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the civils industry.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and lead a team.

  • Corporate membership of RICS or equivalent.

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
