About the Role
Bouygues Construction Australia is seeking an exceptional Environmental and Sustainability Manager to join our growing team. This is a pivotal mid-level leadership role that offers the opportunity to combine hands-on environmental and sustainability delivery with strategic influence across multiple major construction projects. In this role, you will lead integrated environmental and sustainability strategies across significant infrastructure and renewable energy projects, ensuring strong performance against environmental obligations, sustainability targets, compliance requirements, and project objectives.
You will work closely with Project Leadership teams, providing accurate and timely advice while also guiding environmental and sustainability professionals across multiple construction sites. The role requires a proactive, methodical, and detail-oriented approach, with some reasonable mid-week travel to support multi-site operations. This position also plays an important role in tendering activities, contributing environmental and sustainability expertise to bid development, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of environmental management and sustainability performance across project sites
- Ensure integrated management of environmental obligations, CEMP requirements, licence compliance, and sustainability targets
- Provide strategic environmental and sustainability advice to Project Leadership teams
- Identify and anticipate environmental and sustainability risks and develop measures to minimise or mitigate impacts
- Oversee environmental and sustainability performance across multiple construction sites
- Support, mentor, and guide environmental and sustainability professionals within the business
- Contribute to tender development by providing environmental and sustainability input for bids, risk assessments, and compliance documentation
- Maintain rigorous documentation, systematic processes, and high attention to detail across all environmental and sustainability management activities
- Support project inspections, meetings, audits, and leadership activities as required
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelour's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related discipline
- Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (ISAP) or equivalent
- Minimum 8–10 years' experience in environmental management in engineering, construction, environmental, consulting, quality, or related functional areas
- Experience in the construction industry
- Carbon accounting experience
- Incident investigation experience, such as ICAM
- Lead Auditor certification for management systems
- Erosion and Sediment Control experience
- Experience managing multiple project sites
- Experience with Infrastructure Sustainability frameworks and rating tools
- Experience in tender development and bid management
