POSITION SUMMARY:
The Structural Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and oversight of all structural work on the project. This role works closely with the Project Manager, structural superintendent team, engineers, and subcontractors to help maintain schedule alignment, ensure quality standards, and keep project activities organized. The Structural Assistant Project Manager plays an important part in document control, field support, and communication across all structural phases. This position is based in St. Thomas, USVI.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the planning and coordination of concrete, steel, foundations, and other structural activities
- Review drawings, structural details, and shop drawings to support constructability, verify scope, and identify issues early
- Support the Project Manager in managing subcontractors, tracking progress, and maintaining alignment with project goals
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, logs, submittals, and RFIs
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and sequencing requirements with field teams
- Work with the structural superintendent team to address field challenges and support daily workflow
- Assist with inspections by coordinating with engineers, testing agencies, and regulatory officials
- Track and follow up on action items to ensure timely completion
- Monitor quality control measures and assist in verifying that installed work follows project specifications
- Foster strong communication among project leaders, field crews, and trade partners to support smooth project execution
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10 years of experience in construction project management, engineering, or a structural focused field role
- Strong understanding of structural work, including concrete and steel activities
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with construction management software is preferred
