About the Role
The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations at the project site and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within quality standards, and in accordance with project plans and specifications. This role acts as the primary on-site leader, coordinating subcontractors, labor, materials, equipment, and site activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all on-site construction activities from project start through completion.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce the project schedule, including short-term look-ahead plans.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, equipment, and site personnel.
- Ensure all work meets approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and applicable building codes.
- Maintain a safe work environment and enforce company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct daily site inspections, safety meetings, and progress meetings.
- Monitor workforce productivity and identify issues that may affect schedule, cost, quality, or safety.
- Communicate project progress, risks, changes, and site conditions to the Project Manager.
- Review plans and identify constructability concerns before and during construction.
- Coordinate inspections with local authorities and address inspection comments promptly.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, site logs, photographs, manpower records, and delivery documentation.
- Manage site logistics, including access, staging, storage, security, cleanliness, and temporary utilities.
- Support project closeout by coordinating punch-list work, final inspections, testing, and turnover activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Electrical Licence / LVR CPR Training / HV Switching / CoR
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent, Site Superintendent, Foreman, or similar field leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, materials, equipment, and trade coordination.
- Experience managing commercial, residential, industrial, or civil construction projects, depending on company needs.
- Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and change documentation.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and applicable OSHA or local safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil plans.
- Familiarity with construction management software, scheduling tools, and digital daily-reporting platforms.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and resolving on-site conflicts effectively.
- Strong understanding of quality control, inspections, permit requirements, and project closeout procedures.
