Specialized in civil engineering and engineering structures, Bouygues Travaux Publics is one of the world leaders in the fields of land use planning and sustainable infrastructure construction. Bouygues Travaux Publics is committed to diversity and is open to all talents.

We are looking for a Environmental Advisor to join BMJV on the Lower Thames Crossing – Tunnels and Approaches Project, one of the UK’s most high-profile and transformative infrastructure programmes.

Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects.  LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK - creating six times more green space than road. The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice on where they live, work and spend their valuable time.

We have a diverse programme team on LTC that reflects the communities we work in and fosters an inclusive culture by actively supporting the programme's Purpose, Principles and Cultural Pillars and growing employee networks.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in protecting the environment while supporting the delivery of a nationally significant project. The successful candidate will work within the Environment Team, ensuring construction activities are carried out in compliance with environmental legislation, project consents, permits, and client requirements.

The role will also support the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS), helping to drive best practice across waste management, biodiversity protection, pollution prevention, and sustainable construction delivery.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Supporting the day-to-day environmental management of construction activities
• Liaising with site teams, clients, stakeholders, and the wider environmental team
• Carrying out environmental inspections, audits, and compliance checks
• Interpreting environmental data and producing detailed reports
• Ensuring compliance with project consents, permits, and legal obligations
• Creating and maintaining waste management datasets and KPI reporting
• Reviewing risk assessments, management plans, and method statements
• Delivering toolbox talks and environmental briefings to site teams and subcontractors
• Supporting biodiversity protection and ensuring protected species are not disturbed
• Liaising with local authorities and external stakeholders when required

Key competencies required:
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with site teams and stakeholders
• Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to compliance
• Analytical thinking with strong problem-solving ability
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
• Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
• Strong report writing and data interpretation skills
• Collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders
• Commitment to sustainability and responsible construction practices

Essential skills and experience:
• Proven experience carrying out site inspections and environmental audits
• Experience implementing environmental controls to meet planning or consent conditions
• Experience producing environmental reports and compliance documentation
• Competence investigating environmental incidents
• Ability to train others on EMS processes and environmental controls
• Some experience of waste management and KPI reporting
• Strong IT skills and valid UK driving licence

Desirable experience:
• Knowledge of ecology and ecological risk management
• Experience dealing with archaeology and heritage-related issues

This is an excellent opportunity to join a flagship UK infrastructure project where environmental performance is a core priority and where your expertise will directly contribute to responsible project delivery.
