The role
We are seeking a General Accountant to be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, supporting accurate financial reporting, accounts payable administration, tax documentation, and compliance with Canadian accounting and tax requirements.
This position reports to the CFO and works closely with other members of the finance and administration team.
What you’ll do
- Process and post supplier invoices accurately and on a timely basis.
- Review, validate and prepare payments in accordance with company procedures and delegated authorities.
- Monitor invoice status and maintain follow-up with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare, issue and maintain tax documentation required under Canadian regulations, with particular focus on Ontario requirements.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist external and internal auditors by explaining accounting transactions, balances and supporting evidence.
- Contribute to process improvements and internal controls.
- Collaborate effectively with finance and operational teams.
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience
- Knowledge of federal and provincial tax and regulatory requirements
- Experience supporting external audits and month-end closing processes.
- Experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure or project-based organizations is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to communicate confidently with auditors, management and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Systems & Technical Requirements
- Experience with SAP or a similar ERP system is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and adapt to ERP systems and digital finance tools.
- Advanced Excel skills are considered an asset.

The compensation range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000 CAD annually. The final salary offered for this position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, skills, strategic contributions etc. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and adhering to all relevant pay transparency legislation.
